What is your Philosophy of Work?!?!?

My favorite TV program of all time is Sienfield, on that show there is a character George that puts so much effort into getting out of work, relationships and lies that he has told. I had a professor in school that used to say if you want to find the easiest way to do something just ask the laziest person how to do it, well I am sorry to say that many people spend way to much time getting out of doing things than they put into being sucessful at them.

I recently read that as a Christian we should be an employers first choice of who to hire, because we don’t smoke, drink we show up to work on time and we are driven to succeed and we are honest.  Hopefully as Christians that is what employers can count on good honest people that want to do the right thing and make an honest days wage!?!?!

So are my efforts in the right place on completing the task at hand or finding ways to get out doing what I should be doing? I have written about this before but a large percentage of people are satisfied with average, average effort, average results and therefore average lives. I am amazed when I witness people spending hours trying to get out of a simple task that would have only taken a few minutes to complete. Often I see people complete a task with less than acceptable effort when doing it the right way would have only taken a few more minutes. Why is this, well I call it the George Costanza syndrome, they have made a career of doing as little as possible and actually spending time talking, thinking about how they will get out of whatever task is before them.

Sorry to be negative but ask yourself is this me or do I know someone like this? This is not God’s plan for our lives,  I admit that I have to fight this as well, it is so easy to procrastanate and put off task. Let me say this about my rants that I get on, I am preaching to myself as well as others but I know this if I am going to make a difference in my work place I must show up and be the employee God would want me to be.

Today one of my employees thanked me and said that I had helped them from saying something probably very bad to another employee and while that is great I was quick to point out to the employee, don’t look at me keep your eye on Jesus he will never fail you.

I hope some of this made sense but I needed to write it and get it off my mind. Bottom line don’t be a George Costanza kind of person?!?!?
