We are being challenged at COTN right now, challenged to get outside our box and reach out and minister to others. I am try to put myself in positions where I can actively share about Jesus and for that matter pray for peoples needs. In doing this I am realizing several things, one is my faith must increase but as well I have begun to wonder about the faith of the people that I am praying for. Is there faith important or will my faith suffice?
I spent some time studying what occurred when Jesus healed people in the Bible and found that there were some similarities many times.
Mathew 15:21 Jesus sends the demon out of a girl, when her mother convinced Jesus that “even the dogs eat the crumbs that fallĀ from their masters table”. Jesus said “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.”
Matthew 9:20 Jesus heals a woman with a bleeding disorder, when she came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of his cloak, she said “If only I could touch his cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus said, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.”
Mark 10:50, Jesus heals the blind beggar man who won’t stop calling out for Jesus, when Jesus asked him what do you want me to do for you, the blind man said I want to see, Jesus said “YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU.”
Is this why people are often healed by faith healers, because of their raised level of faith? Why is it that people are not healed in churches every Sunday, is it because of their lack of faith?
I believe of course that God can heal whenever he get’s ready but because of our lack of faith we miss opportunities for great miracles to occur. We must increase our expectation, if our expectation is lacking then how can we expect the person we are praying for to have the faith necessary to be healed.
The question is how do we increase our expectation/faith? I submit it must begin with actually showing up expecting to see the miracles of God.
