Movie reviews

Ok so here is my first official movie blog review, over the past couple of months I have had the pleasure of going to several movies and I will give you a brief review.  I will use a 1 to 5 scale to grade each movie with 1 being the lowest score and 5 the highest.

Evan Almighty-Surprisingly good, it really has a good Godly overall meaning and is a very family friendly movie. I loved the acronym for ARK, Acts of Random Kindness, well I rate this movie 3.5 stars, definitely worth renting or going to the dollar movie to see.

Hairspray-Yes I went to see Hair Spray, keep in mind Hannah is a musical theater major. I actually saw the play on Broadway and it was great but I was not as taken with the movie. For one I could not bare to look at John Travolta as a woman, absolutely hideous. I will say that Christopher Walken was awesome, everyone else that went with me to the movie loved it so when I rate it keep that in mind. Ok here you go Hair Spray is rated a 2, I am not sure that I would walk into my own living room to watch it for free.

Evening-Well I bet some of you have never even heard of this movie, starring Vanessa Redgrave and Clare Danes but although kind of dark at times, it was very interesting. Men this movie borders on being a chick flick but it does somehow keep you interested. Basic premise of the movie is Vanessa Redgrave is on her death bed and she is in and out of consciousness and is dreaming (I guess) about her past and the mistakes she made or did not make. I hate to give the ending away but in the end she realizes that there really are no mistakes because you make your life out of the decision that make. Ok so evenings gets 2.5 stars, men don’t cringe if the wife wants to rent it, you might like it?!?

Ratatouille-By far one of my favorite movies I have seen this summer, good for the whole family and about cooking (which I love to do!!!). Very funny on a lot of levels, with a love story for the girls, a villian for the guys and real good feel good ending. This movie I would watch again and as a matter of fact I can’t wait until it comes out on DVD. I totally recommend Ratatouille and rate it a 4.

Well that is enough for now, I will rate so other movies that I recently saw. Meet the Robinson’s-3, Shriek III-2.5, Nancy Drew-2.5

  1. I really liked Evan Almighty too. The only other one I’ve seen is Nancy Drew. I was not impressed. My niece wasn’t too crazy about it either. I would like to see Hairspray. I was looking forward to Ratatouille but my mother has a fear of rats so we couldn’t see it. I’ll definitely rent it.
